My name is Tylia and I will be moving to Little Lake Bryan in May to participate in the Disney College Program for the Fall Advantage Term! I will be a Recreation Cast Member at the Walt Disney World Resort. I will be graduating with my Bachelors degree in Marine Biology this May before heading over to Disney. I decided to start this blog because in all the procrastinating I have been doing with the major senioritis I have I maybe stumbled onto to CPs with a recreation role that did vlogs and they are over three years old so I said why not, since I still cant decided if I want to vlog I am sticking to writing for now. Hopefully you will all read along :)
I guess I should give you some insight into who I am, I was born and raised in Puerto Rico a beautiful Caribbean island, that just happens to be a commonwealth of the good ole USA, so yup I is a US citizen. Just clarifying that so now you know how easy it was to travel to the US, most importantly Florida. When I was 3 years old my parents took me on my first trip to Walt Disney World, it was in the spring and it was so bright and happy, I may not remember much from the trip but I will never forget how colorful it all was. Anyways after countless flights, check ins and finger print scanning I have logged my fair share of hours at the Walt Disney World Resort. I come from a long line of Vacation Club Owners, which needless to say explains a big part of the reason why WDW was the destination of choice for the Hernandez family. Growing up Disney, as I will title my memoir (hahaha) I owe a lot of my childhood memories to that park and I can't believe that soon enough I will be creating those infamous magical moments that made my family return oh so many times.
My dad has had a Disney College Program bumper sticker on his car for how long as I can remember so I have known about the program for a long long time. When I came to college I decided I was going to apply to the program in the fall for the spring program since that was the first time I was cleared to go, sadly I could not leave my school for a semester. You see I came to school to study marine biology so if I left for a semester it would throw my entire 4 year plan off since classes are offered at odd intervals. Before I knew it, my last year of undergrad had arrived, as soon as the application opened on January 26th I was on the website ready to fill out my application. I completed this application in less than an hour, and a short hour after I received my Web Based Interview. After completing the Web Based Interview I received the page that said I was a strong candidate and asked me to schedule a Phone Interview. A week later I had my Phone Interview, this was a blast of course I was nervous but I had been watching Brave before hand (#teammerida) and it really calmed my nerves. As the phone interview went on I found myself leaning further and further back in my sofa, after hanging up my gut told me I nailed it, but for the days that followed I was second guessing all my answers.
February 27th arrived, the day that I flew home for spring break, I stepped out of the shower and did my usual glance at my phone to see if there were any missed text messages. I just saw the subject line of the email and started screaming, that was my reaction I screamed. I thought I was going to bawl my eyes out, I had been thinking about my reaction for the last couple of days, and screaming at the top of my lungs was the last thing in my mind. My downstairs neighbor was concerned about the screams that went on for a good five minutes, so I got lucky that nobody reported me that would have been a funny thing to explain. Anyways that weekend I accepted my role, paid my fees, picked my arrival date and even found my roommate.
Anyways with a little less than a month from my arrival date soon this blog will kick into gear and off I will go on all my DCP adventures. So follow along all my adventures on here and for visual representation of my adventures follow my Instagram @theislandmouse. Happy Exploring!
